StarSense Explorer - the First Telescope to use your Smartphone to Analyze the Night Sky & Calculate Location in Real Time!
Celestron has reinvented the manual telescope. StarSense Explorer is perfect for beginners thanks to the easy-to-use app and detailed instructions. It's like having your own personal guide to the night sky. Dock, start, explore
Forget about complicated star charts, inaccurate planetarium apps, and computer-controlled holders. Finding objects has never been easier, faster or more accurate than with StarSense Explorer. It only takes a few minutes after configuring the telescope before you are well on your way to exploring the sky. Simply place your phone in the unique StarSense dock and launch the StarSense Explorer app. Adjust your phone to the telescope's optics (a quick 2 minute procedure), after which StarSense Explorer generates a list of visible celestial bodies. Make your choice and arrows on the screen will guide you as you move the telescope. When the object is ready for display, the crosshair turns green.
Compatibility with Smartphones: StarSense Explorer can be used with most modern smartphones, including iPhone 6 and higher as well as most devices with Android 7.1.2 or later, manufactured since 2016. Click here to view the complete list of compatible smartphones.
High Quality Altazimuth Holder with Slowmotion Control: The ultra-stable altazimuth holder forms a solid base for StarSense Explorer DX. Sliding clutches and gear-driven slow motion control on both axes allow you to move the telescope softly and zoom in on your target. You can follow celestial bodies that seem to glide across the night sky at the touch of a button. The telescope is attached to an adjustable full-height tripod.
Dazzling Views with High Quality Optics: The large 5 ”optical tube from Schmidt-Cassegrain - Celestron's proven optical design for more than 50 years - allows the telescope to collect enough light to display impressive details in the celestial bodies and is at the same time compact and light. Expect to see sharp, bright images of Jupiter's four Galilean moons, the planet's cloud band and its characteristic red spot, Saturn's rings, the trapezoidal region of the Orion Nebula and the beautiful open star cluster the Pleiades.
All exterior glass surfaces are coated with Celestron's optical coating StarBright XLT, which increases contrast and light transmission and provides brighter images of outer space. StarBright XLT allows you to see imperceptible details when looking at the moon and planets, as well as indistinct galaxies and nebulae. Perfect for Cities or Places with Dark Skies: Even if you live in a slightly polluted city, StarSense Explorer is so advanced that the telescope can identify Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, the Orion Nebula, binary stars and some more of the most famous celestial bodies.
However, if you take the telescope to a slightly darker place, more objects will be visible. With the 5 ”optical tube from Schmidt-Cassegrain and a relatively dark sky, it will be easier to see the Andromeda galaxy, the constellation Hercules and many more.
The manual altazimuth holder with soft slow motion control on two axes makes it easy to follow the arrows on the screen to the desired target. When the target grain turns green, the target can be seen in the telescope's eyepiece.
See all the most interesting celestial bodies with the 5 ”large optical tube from Schmidt-Cassegrain with StarBright XLT coating and sufficient light collection capability.
Comes with 25 mm and 10 mm eyepieces, StarSense's smartphone dock, a red dot viewfinder (if you use the telescope without your phone), a diagonal to upright images and a solid full-height tripod in full height.
